In other news! I dug out the song that was written about me and circulated about the rondevous circuit back in 1989. It was even sung back to me out at the 7 Rivers Rondervous in Aberdeen, WA back in 1994. They were surprized when they discovered they were singing it to the very person that inspired it in the first place. You can click here and enjoy a good chuckle. Thank you Barking Spider Band and Hoot Gibson, who wrote this way back when!

September of 2004 we had an unwanted visitor in the form of Hurricane Francis.

Francis managed to drop a 75 year old pecan tree onto the house but it went a lot farther than that. The tree was so big it shifted the house slightly, wrapped around to the back of the house and stripped clean everything on the north side of the house. Though the tree managed to give us 5 new interior water features (leaks), crush the northern dormer, and tear up everything on the house, it somehow managed to avoid breaking any windows.

To see the mess a day after the hurricane passed click on the link below. The page will be updated as I get a moment to go out and take pictures. This is one of those long and drawn out projects. We've been dealing with contractors that would show up, give an estimate, and once told to start, would disappear. We're on our 7th contractor and the start date is the next 3 dry days in a row (not happening any time soon). Guess you can figure out we're wet.

Arlene has come and gone dropping a lot of water but not much for wind (Thank God!) We're already saturated and a strong wind will start dropping trees.

Hurricane Francis

As many of you know Hurricane Katrina did a serious number on the Gulf Coast of the US this last week. Many folks died and hundreds of thousands are homeless, without food, water, and shelter.

Brad Guigar, organizer for AltBrand Comics MDA Webcomics Telethon and the fantastic creator of Greystone Inn, is kicking off a WebComics Telethon to benefit these folks. Black Label Comics is hosting the event starting the week of September 12th. All the money collected, including donations and money generated from the ads on site, will be donated to the Red Cross. He's hoping to make this a two or three-day gig depending on the number of folks participating.

Interested parties should e-mail him here so he can start generating a head count.

If you're wanting to participate, prepare a special comic strip for the Telethon keep the width under 600 pixels wide and any depth. The subject matter is pretty much open so you're not stuck on the subject of hurricanes and disasters or donating unless you really want to. Wander on over to The AltBrand MDA Telethon site and check it out. There were a lot of fantastic comics that were generated from that.

Now go out and spread the word!
